How to assign and manage leave approvers

There are two ways to assign approvers for time‑off requests:

  • Approver for department
  • Direct approver for employee

1. Approver for department

Assign a manager and a secondary approver for all employees in a department.

Assigning approvers for a department

Both approvers receive notifications and emails when requests are submitted; either approver can act. Once processed, the request is removed from both approvers’ notification lists.

2. Direct approver for employee

For project‑based teams or temporary/contract staff, assign a Direct Supervisor instead of using the department manager.

How to set a Direct Supervisor:

  • Go to Employee Details → General tab
  • Click Edit
  • Select a Direct Supervisor from the list
  • Save changes

This allows for more flexible approval workflows, ensuring the right person reviews and approves time-off requests.
