Count working days.
Not just weekdays.
Start with the days in your working week, then remove selected holidays that land on those days. A holiday on a day you already do not work does not get subtracted again.
In a comparison, shared working days are calendar dates when both locations are marked as working. The planner compares dates, not time-zone overlap or individual availability.
A few useful answers.
What the planner counts—and what it does not.
- How does the planner count working days?
-
It counts the days in your working week across the whole year, then takes away each selected holiday or added date that falls on one of them. A date counts once, even when two holidays share it, and a holiday on a day you don’t work isn’t taken away again. With Monday to Friday and every listed holiday, England and Wales have 253 working days in 2027.
- Which calendars does it cover?
-
The United Kingdom (England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland), the US federal calendar, France, all 16 German states and Poland, for 2026 and 2027. They are the public holiday lists TimeOff imports, each checked against its official source on 21 October 2026. US state calendars, Canada, Spain and other countries are not covered.
- What happens when a holiday falls on a weekend?
-
The planner uses each calendar’s published dates. When a UK bank holiday falls on a weekend, the list has its substitute weekday instead. A US federal holiday on a Saturday is observed on the Friday before, and one on a Sunday on the Monday after, for most federal employees; the planner lists the observed date. France, Germany and Poland keep a holiday on its date. Where a holiday on a Saturday gives your team another day off, as it can in Poland, add the day your employer sets as an additional date.
- Can I add company closures or a local holiday?
-
Yes. Open Working week & holiday settings and add up to 50 dates to each plan: a company closure, a local holiday or a replacement day. Each counts once, like a listed holiday. To move a holiday, untick its listed date and add the new one.
- Is anything I enter saved or sent?
-
No. The planner runs in your browser. It stores nothing, sends nothing and keeps your choices out of the page address, so reloading starts again. Downloads are files you save yourself: one-off snapshots, not subscriptions.
- Is this legal or HR advice?
-
No. The counts are arithmetic on the calendars, working weeks and dates you choose. They don’t decide anyone’s entitlement or pay, or whether a workplace must close. Check contracts, your own policies and each location’s official source.

Coverage, calculation rules & sources
Which calendars are included?
United Kingdom: England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. United States: the federal calendar. France: the national calendar. Germany: all 16 states. Poland: the national calendar. Each is the public holiday list TimeOff imports for that location, for 2026 and 2027. US state calendars, Canada, Spain and other countries are not covered.
Dates, observance and an employer’s actual plan
US federal holidays that fall on a weekend are listed on the weekday most federal employees observe them, marked “observed”. A UK bank holiday on a weekend is listed on its substitute weekday. France, Germany and Poland keep each holiday on its date. German Unity Day (3 October) is a holiday in every German state by federal law, the Unification Treaty, so a state’s own holiday law may not list it. In Bavaria, Assumption Day is a holiday only in municipalities with a mainly Catholic population; Corpus Christi in Saxony and Thuringia applies only in some municipalities and is not listed. Poland’s Saturday-holiday replacement days are not automatically assigned: the employer chooses dates within the applicable reference period. The displayed total is not the statutory working-time quota. A company may choose additional days, but this tool does not decide legal eligibility.
Additional dates off
Add up to 50 whole-day local, replacement or company dates per plan. These are clearly marked as user-entered in the holiday list and exports. A date is counted once even if an added day coincides with a selected published holiday; an already non-working weekday is not deducted twice. Select only the dates your plan actually treats as off. Added dates and holiday selections reset when the location or year changes, with a message.
Sources travel with the result
Each calendar’s source and the date it was checked travel with the result: on screen, in both CSV files, in the calendar file and in print. Passing calculation tests does not verify a source, and the page’s build date is not a check date.
How the numbers work
Working days = selected weekdays in the year minus distinct selected dates off on those weekdays. Shared working dates count the intersection of the two daily plans. Different working dates count dates where exactly one plan works. Dates use UTC civil-date arithmetic, not local-midnight durations. No time-zone overlap, holiday pay, annual entitlement or individual availability is calculated.
Privacy and downloads
The planner runs in your browser. No names, account or email address are required. Added dates stay in this open page and are not saved to browser storage. CSV, calendar and print exports are one-off snapshots, not subscriptions.
