How do I carry over unused holiday?
Use Carry Over at the end of your leave year to move unused holiday or PTO into the next year.
Before carrying over allowance, make sure all leave for the year is recorded, pending requests have been approved or declined, and cancellations, revocations and allowance adjustments are up to date.
Set your company carry-over limit
If your company has a standard rule, such as allowing employees to carry over a maximum of 3 days, go to:
Settings → Carry-over allowance → Configuration → Carry over days
Set the maximum number of days employees can normally carry into the next leave year.
Carry over an employee’s unused allowance
Open Settings → Carry-over allowance.
Then:
- Select the years you are carrying allowance between.
- Select the relevant department.
- Review each employee’s unused allowance and carry-over limit.
- Adjust Days to Carry Over if an employee needs an exception.
- Check the amount, then choose Carry Over.
TimeOff.Management adds the transferred amount to the employee’s allowance for the new year.
Can I override the company limit for one employee?
Yes. You can change Days to Carry Over for an individual employee before carrying it over.
This is useful for agreed exceptions, different contracts or one-off adjustments.
Where can I see the carried-over days?
After carry over is completed:
- the Carry Over page records the transfer;
- the previous year’s allowance shows an adjustment;
- the new year’s allowance breakdown includes a Carried Over entry.
